Two-car smash-up at Drahner and M-24

A two-vehicle smash-up at the intersection of Drahner and M-24 sent both drivers to the hospital late Sunday afternoon.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s report, the accident was caused by an 89-year-old Oxford woman who was attempting to make a left-turn off E. Drahner onto south M-24 during a flashing red light.
The Oxford woman’s 1997 Ford collided head-on with an eastbound 2004 Jeep, driven by a 36-year-old Ferndale woman.
The drivers were transported to POH Medical Center in Pontiac via two American Medical Response ambulances.
Deputies cited the Oxford woman for failing to yield to the right-of-way.
