Dear Editor,
Again, I voice my vehement opposition to the proposed recall of four of the five Goodrich Village councilmembers.
The recall is disruptive to the day-to-day operations of our village, and it is expensive. For those who claim to be concerned about the village budget, you have a funny way of lessening those expenses. (I’m thinking the library could use the $2,000 estimated cost of a recall vote more.)
More importantly, the recall is aimed at the wrong councilmembers. Councilperson Wartella should be recalled because she sought an unsealed open bid for trash removal without authority and did so behind closed doors.
Clearly, Wartella is inexperienced in government meeting procedures. She stubbornly refuses to work with the rest of the council for the good of all our residents, not a few disgruntled newcomers who want to ‘share? their tax burden with those of us who live in more modest homes. However, Wartella crossed the ethical line when she met with Richfield. That meeting was held in violation of the village charter.
Without an expensive recall vote, Wartella should step down. Her behavior is unbecoming of an elected official.
