‘We are so grateful for your support?

Dear editor,
At long last I have gathered all the data and would like to give our community a final accounting of this year’s Trees for Troops Program.
We want to thank the many people who came out to help load trees, donated trees/funds to the program, especially the school children who earned money to buy a tree for a family, wrote notes of encouragement or made beautiful paper ornaments. We are so grateful for your support.
Final 2010 figures have come in. Nationally, 17,224 trees were delivered to military families; 1201 came from from the two pickup points in Michigan. The FedEx truck that left Candy Cane Christmas Tree Farm contained approximately 350 trees which came from several wholesale farms as well as our small farm.
Our local community, school children and customers donated 30 trees, we put in another 25.
In addition to the trees, $402.75 cash was donated, which we are sending to the Christmas Spirit Foundation to serve as seed money for next year’s Trees for Troops efforts.
Sometimes we cannot realize how a small effort on our part can bring joy to the lives of so many families, specially those who are serving our country.
Please take a moment to look at this link containing photos and comments from the tree recipients.
Again, we express our sincere thanks for your help.
