WOW Tan

‘Indoor tanning lifts your spirits,? said owner Tim McIlrath. ‘Laying in a warm tanning booth makes people feel good.?
The energetic tan artist is no stranger to sculpting the mental benefits of indoor tanning. McIlrath has provided the easel for painting that Caribbean glow on the canvas of more than 21,000 sun lovers for more than two years at Wow Tan in Waterford.
According to McIlrath, if done correctly and responsibly, indoor tanning is a safe way dive into the landscape of summer’s healthy energy.
‘If it’s done right, the controlled environment of indoor tanning is safer than outside,? said McIlrath. ‘Tanning is actually a natural defense against the sun. Skin damage happens when you burn in natural sun.?
With responsible booth experience tracing back to his teens, McIlrath blends honesty and product knowledge to enrich customer service.
By continually attending equipment clinics and product seminars; combined with online coalition memberships, McIlrath is always on the lookout for up-to-date science of lamp technology and the effect of UVB and UVA bulbs on each client’s skin pigmentation. Having a full line of tanning product and lotions, and nail care services are tops on McIlrath’s list to help his clients escape to the alluring tropical glow.
‘The healthier the skin, the better the tan,? he said.
‘It’s simple; treat clients the way you would want to be treated,? McIlrath glowed. ‘I’ve refunded money and turned people down because they wanted longer tanning periods, which is not good for them.?
‘I might redirect them to spray-tanning,? he said. ‘Because the temporary tanning method works, with proper care techniques, which we instruct them with.? With an eye to further customer care, McIlrath is planning to expand private booth spray tanning services for client comfort.
With continued efforts to help his customers quick escape to destination of vacation, McIlrath is expanding the salon to make room for more beds to reduce lobby wait time.
‘Word of mouth has spread quickly and the response has been phenomenal,? said McIlrath. ‘My goal is to try to make it so that my customers don’t have to wait for a tan.?
