Ortonville– Scruffy to Fluffy has a new home.

The pet salon now has its own shop located at 421 Mill St. in the village.

“I love the town, I grew up here and I love the people,” said Jan Coley, co-owner of Scruffy to Fluffy, and a Goodrich resident. “It’s good to be home.”

Melissa Groeneveld, co-owner who originally opened Scruffy to Fluffy inside Pet Supplies “Plus,” in 2012, is excited about the larger, 1,400-square foot location, which was remodeled inside by Coley’s boyfriend, Tom Tersigni, and has a rustic, welcoming feel. The pet salon also now features three tubs, including a walk-in tub for larger and older dogs.

“We’re still right in town serving Ortonville,” said Groeneveld. “We treat the animals like they are our own, in a safe environment.”

Groeneveld has been grooming dogs since 2001 and was trained at the Michigan School of Canine Cosmetology in Lansing. Coley has been a groomer for more than 30 years and is also a veterinary technician. Each of them have three dogs of their own, as well as several other pets.

Scruffy to Fluffy has been voted “Best of the Best” pet groomer for the past four years by readers of The Citizen. The pet salon offers full and partial groomings, baths, nail clipping, teeth brushing, and ear cleaning among their services. All breeds and sizes of dogs are welcome.

New clients are eligible for a 20 percent discount on services.

“We’d love to take care of your animals and serve the community,” said Coley. “Give us a try.”

Scruffy to Fluffy offers pick-up and drop-off services, and walk-ins are welcome, although appointments are preferred. The pet salon is open 7:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Details: 248-627-1224.
