2nd graders learn tricks of the biz trade downtown

A walking trip to downtown Lake Orion was a way for local students to learn more about local businesses.
On Oct. 16, the second graders from Blanche Sims Elementary took a walking trip to downtown Lake Orion.
Mike Kalohn, the owner of Prime Time Sports Cards downtown said he always looks forward to the walking trip every year.
‘I never know what they are going to ask,? said Kalohn. ‘The questions are always a challenge.?
Second grader, Dillion Werth asked Kalohn, ‘Are you hiring? How often do you get paid? Where do you get your cards from??
Some of the other questions students asked were: Do you provide goods or services? Do you make the goods that you sell? If not, how do they get to your business? Do you need to have a college education for your job? How does your business help our community?
Second grade teachers, Andrea Wayne, Cindy Marshall, Beth Bruce and Tricia O’Donnell said they wanted to thank all of the businesses in downtown Lake Orion for their participation.
‘Our students learned so much about the businesses in their community and were eager to tell their parents about all of the stores they visited,? said Wayne. ‘They can’t wait to take their parents back.?
