Sheperd — The Ortonville Brandon Cross Country teams concluded their 2024 cross country season at the MHSAA regional championship on the phenomenal Shepherd Cross Country course.
“On a beautiful fall day perfect for distance running the Brandon Blackhawks fought hard and many ran lifetime bests,” said Head Coach Wiener/
The men’s team began the action on the perfect fall afternoon. The team took 12th out of the 14 teams in their region. They were led by BHS Jacob Hylton who took 35th. He was followed by Chase Compau 18:50 and BHS Braxton Spurr 19:05 who both ran lifetime bests. They were followed by BHS Ryan Savoie 21:44 who ran a 40 second lifetime best. BHS Troy Wychuyse 22:14 who ran a 20 second lifetime best and BHS Alex Burch 24:30 who improved his time by a minute.
The Lady Blackhawks followed in the same great conditions. The girls team took 9th of 11 teams in the region. They were led by BHS Ava Clark 21:30 who took 33rd overall with a 20 second PR. She was followed by senior BHS Clara Mackey 22:25 who broke 23 minutes for the first time. They were followed by BHS senior Addison Hollenbeck, 24:15 who had 50 second lifetime best. BHS Danielle St James 25:00 and BHS Emma Mulcuhey 25:36 who had a season’s best of 20 seconds, BHS Sadie Buell 26:41 and BHS Lilly Mastin 26:45 closed out the varsity runners on the day both recording 40+ seconds lifetime bests.
