Warren — Both Brandon and Goodrich wrestlers will be represented at the Michigan High School Athletic Association State Wrestling Finals at Ford Field Feb. 28-March 1.
On Feb. 15 one Brandon Blackhawk and six Goodrich Martian wrestlers qualified for the Division 2 state finals at the individual regionals at Warren Woods Tower High School.
BHS Senior Nick Montreuil at 144 pounds qualified and placed third.
The Goodrich Martian Wrestling team will send six wrestlers to the state meet.
GHS Jonathan Golec (37-4) at 175 pounds qualified and placed second; Jack Mahon (18-4) at 190 pounds qualified and placed second; James Mahon (34-3) at 215 pounds qualified and placed third; GHS Jonathan Davis (22-7) 126 pounds qualified and placed second; Ethen Garza (25-7) at 138 pounds qualified and placed second and GHS Jaden Davis (32-5) at 150 pounds qualified and placed second.
“They all wrestled tough, and it was a good meter before the state tournament in Detroit next weekend,” said Issac Jewell, Goodrich head coach.
