The Clarkston Area Optimist Club hosted 85 young people for their annual Tri-Star basketball competition on Tuesday, March 9 at Anderson Elementary school. Trophies were awarded to the following winners:
? 13-year-old Boys: Brooke Davis, first place; James Reamer, second place.
? 12-year-old Girls: Kayla Barnes, first place; Carlie Sanchez, second place.
? 12-year-old Boys: Zach Drumb, first place; Tyler Workman, second place; Brandon Paul, third place.
? 11-year-old Girls: Kari Brownell, first place; Chelsea Noel, second place; Leah Sanchez, third place.
? 11-year-old Boys: J. Michael Rogers, first place; Rawley Hallman, second place; Jeffrey Turner, third place.
? 10-year-old Girls: Megan Hastings, first place; Jessica Ming, second place; Tyler Rumbold, third place.
? 10-year-old Boys: Brent Cousino, first place; Mitchell Benzinger, second place; Connor Lyons, third place.
? 9-year-old Girls: Shauna Siwicki, first place; Lisa Lyons, second place; Tara Perry, third place.
? 9-year-old Boys: Mac McClelland, first place; Daniel Wightman, second place; Spencer Pawlik, third place.
? 8-year-old Girls: Leah Morrill, first place; Natalie Drumb, second place; Carly Giroux, third place.
? 8-year-old Boys: Scott Cousino, first place; Bradley Demattie, second place; Robbie Carson, third place.
The hoopsters competed for awards in dribbling, shooting and passing. Members of the Clarkston High School varsity basketball team assisted the Optimists in recording scores and monitoring each station.
The team members who participated in the Tri-Star program included Chris Johnston, Brad Goodman, Kyle Rademacher, Adam Briceland, Mark Thornberry and Ryan Kaltz.
First place winners advance to the Optimist district competition in Southfield on May 1.
