The Orion Township Planning Commission has been directed by the board of trustees to investigate options before implementing a master plan for the Baldwin Road corridor.
Planning commission chairman John Steimel told the board on May 3 that he was asked by residents to look at the area. He said there are lots of options for a master plan.
‘We will discuss all those options and come back with a recommendation to the board,? he said. ‘We may decide that there is no interest (in forming an overlay district).?
Steimel said the planning commission would be contacting property owners to get their input.
‘Nothing will happen without the board’s approval here,? he said.
The board was to have confirmed implementation of the master plan on May 3, but township attorney Kristin Kolb thought that language was ‘too broad.?
‘I would be more comfortable with language directing the planning commission to investigate options,? she said. ‘Using ‘implement?…I have a number of legal concerns about that.?
