Father Chris Maus was recently installed as the new pastor of St. Daniel Catholic Community in Clarkston. He moved to the Clarkston area from southwest Detroit, where he has lived the past six years while serving as pastor of St. Hedwig.
Although he misses his previous home in Detroit, Maus says he is really beginning to like the Clarkston area.
‘The parish and the community here both seem very active, very socially involved, and a good place to raise a family, ? Maus said. ? I especially enjoy walking around the downtown area, and have found a new favorite restaurant in the Clarkston Cafe!?
Maus grew up in the Dearborn area and attended Michigan State University, where he graduated in 1980 with a degree in business. He graduated from Sacred Heart Major Seminary in 1993, and has worked at three other metro-area parishes prior to joining St. Daniel.
In his short tenure at St. Daniel, Maus has already begun to seek advice and input from the active parish of more than 1,800 families. He has developed and circulated a questionnaire designed to generate new ideas and suggestions as well as address concerns from parishioners, and has been hosting frequent meetings with staff and parishioners in an effort to learn about his new parish.
‘Clarkston is a very warm and friendly community, Maus said ? I’m excited to be here, and looking forward to being an integral part of this very active and involved parish.?
