And the bid winner is…

Village residents will have their road cleared of ice and snow by DPW workers using salt bought from Morton Salt out of Chicago.
Morton Salt was awarded the contract with Lake Orion on Sept. 13.
The company’s low bid was $38.04 with a 50 ton minimum. Cargill Incorporated bid $39.73 and North American Salt’s bid was $45.17.
North American supplied road salt to the village last year at a cost of $34.89 per ton.
About 410 tons of salt were used in 2003-04, 500 tons in 2002-03 and 250 tons in 2001-02.
