Stolen cart came from golf club

A 14-year-old Cedar Key boy who was spotted driving a golf cart down Scripps Road by an Oakland County Sheriff’s Department deputy told the officer he purchased the cart on ‘eBay? for $65.
According to an OCSD report, the deputy was on patrol on Scripps near Joslyn Road on Sept. 23, when he saw three juvenile boys riding in a golf cart. The driver told the deputy they had driven the golf cart to a football game at Lake Orion High School and were driving home.
He told the deputy he got the cart on ‘eBay,? picked it up at Canterbury Village and had no papers or other information for it.
An adult arrived and told the deputy he was supposed to have picked up the other two boys at the football game, but that they had left.
The boy driving the cart’s grandmother told the deputy she was watching him while his parents were on vacation, and that the parents didn’t know the boy had the cart.
The cart was later identified as one of three stolen recently from Paint Creek Country Club. It was impounded.
