Church gives’Not-So-Extreme Home Makeover? to couple

A group of teens and adults from Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Baldwin Road in Orion Township recently gave up their weekends to help a couple from their congregation.
Les Snyder, who is wheelchair-bound, and his wife Pam live in a home on Grafton, and members of their congregation at Good Shepherd volunteered time to come out and help with some projects around the house.
Dubbed the ‘Not-So-Extreme Home Makeover,? the project called for painting the whole interior of the house, putting in new cabinets and replacing flooring, all things the Snyders had asked them to do.
In addition, however, volunteers planned to insulate the house and re-side it, as a surprise to the couple. A $1,600 grant from Thrivent Financial Services made the project possible.
Work began at 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 24, and was to end on Sept. 26 around 8 p.m.
