The Orion Township Parks and Recreation Department hosted its annual Barn Daze event on Oct. 9, drawing about 8,000 people out to Friendship Park.
Friendship Park (corner of Clarkston and Baldwin) is currently the home of the historic Porritt Barn, which initially gave life to the Barn Daze event. The Orion Historical Society offered tours of the barn on Saturday.
There was also plenty for the whole family to do, including: Games, a petting zoo, pony rides, hay wagon rides, refreshments, community represenatives like Orion Art Center and ONTV, arts and crafts sales, pumpkin patch, inflatable amusements, Chili Challenge and the cow pie eating, husband calling and pig throwing contests.
Barn Daze is the parks and recreation department’s largest event of the year. Proceeds from Barn Daze benefit Orion Township Parks.
