State meet has local flavor

Lake Orion sent 19 athletes to the Michigan state Hershey Track meet, held in Holt on July 7.
All 19 of the athletes competing at the state level finished first in the Dragon GAP local Hershey Track Meet in June.
Highlights from the state meet included a first place finish by the 4X100 relay team of Janine Walters, Samantha Dorse, Kaitlyn Bartreau and Anna Pearson in the Girls 13-14-year-old category. Walters added a seventh place finish in the 200 meter dash.
Zach Arnold took first place in the Boys 9-10-year-old 200 meter dash and added a second place finish in the 400 meter dash.
Abby Lennox notched a second place finish in the 11-12-year-old 200 meter dash and a fourth place finish in the 100 meter dash.
Nathan Ziolko also placed second in his event, the 1600 meter run, in the 13-14 age group.
In that same age group, Dominic Arnold took third in the 800 meter run and seventh in the 200 meter dash.
Samantha Robinson was fifth in the 13-14-year-old softball throw and Chris Sulisz took seventh in the standing long jump, also at the 13-14 level.
