Oxford kickers win first district game

Oxford 5, Richmond 0 (at Richmond) ? Oxford played it’s last regular season game before the start of districts. It was a great tune-up for the boys. Oxford started the scoring with a great one-time shot from senior captain Paul Ebenhoeh. Dave Kourtjian placed a great volley into the back of the net to head into the half 2-0. At the start of the second half, Zac Wasylyna scored. A short time later, Wasylyna scored another goal. David Kourtjian scored the final goal of the game. Goalie Shane Rondy recorded his eighth shutout of the season.

First Round District Game: Oxford 3, Swartz Creek 0 (at Oxford) ? The Wildcats came out strong and within the first three minutes of the game Zac Wasylyna got to a through ball that was sent wide which he crossed and found Josh Reaume who rocked the ball into the back of the net. Oxford’s defense played very well and didn’t allow any opponents near the keeper. Oxford got on the board again with a great shot from sophomore Francesco Paese thanks to a free-kick from junior captain Josh DuVal. The half ended 2-0. With less than 10 minutes left in the game, sophomore defender Mark Jones lofted a throw into the box and found David Kourtjian who headed the ball in near post to go up 3-0. Thanks to the Oxford defense, keeper Shane Rondy only had to make two saves the whole night. Rondy extended his shut-out total to nine games.
Oxford’s overall record is now 13-5-2.
