Sokol on board as senior center consultant

In light of a leave of absence being taken by Orion Senior Center Director Marylou Enneking due to illness, the township board has voted to contract with Lisa Sokol as a senior center consultant.
Sokol will perform dutiesiand assume responsibilities of an administrative nature at the center until Enneking returns. Enneking’s leave is estimated to be about four to five weeks, in addition to some weeks she has already been absent.
A proposal from Sokol was requested by the senior center governing board at its Sept. 8 meeting, and in the interest of time, was sent directly to the township board for approval. A new proposal was requested in light of the changes regarding Enneking’s extended leave of absence.
Sokol’s proposal provided for administrative coverage, including completing the Community Development Block Grant procurement Sokol began in August while Enneking was on vacation.
Sokol will be an independent contractor, and the proposal costs of $20 per hour, with a maximum not to exceed 40 hours a week, are included in the current township budget so no additional costs are anticipated.
