After about 14 years of being based in northern Oxford Township, Sota Technology Inc. is moving ? to the other side of M-24.
By mid-December, the automotive supplier hopes to move into a brand new 60,000-square-foot facility currently being constructed for it on X-Celsior Drive, off Metamora Road, west of M-24, according to Keith Chudy, Chief Financial Officer of Sota Technology, Inc.
The metal stamping and roll forming operation is currently located in a 77,000-square-foot facility it leases at 2793 Metamora Road, east of M-24.
Chudy said the new, smaller facility will allow for more efficient manufacturing operations.
‘The new building is laid out better and has a better flow? than the current facility’s layout, which Chudy described as a ‘mish-mash.?
Chudy said a smaller facility will better suit Sota Technology’s needs.
‘We don’t use it all now,? he said of the company’s current 77,000-square-foot building. ‘We’ve never used all the space.?
When asked why Sota Technology decided to keep its operations based in Oxford, Chudy said, ‘We like the community. We want to continue supporting the community.?
Many of Sota Technology’s 42 employees live in the surrounding area, Chudy noted. ‘It made sense to try to maintain our place here,? he said.
