Greener rubber pastures on the way for high school

At the Jan.10 meeting, the Clarkston Community School Board unanimously passed a motion to go forward with installing a synthetic turf field at the CHS football field among other improvements as part of phase I of the master facilities plan.
‘Given the direction of student activities, I think (the approval of the master facilities plan) is a good vote,? said Superintendent Dr. Al Roberts.
Aside from the turf field, which will be bid on and confirmed in the next month, the baseball/softball fields at CHS will receive toilets, a stairway/entry will be added in the CHS gym, and work will be done to the CJHS and SMS playing fields. The cost estimate for all of the facilities improvements comes in at $1.25 million. The money needed for these improvements will be drawn from the 2003 bond. With the exception of the turf field, all of the other construction jobs were allotted for in the bond.
