Oxford superintendent interviews for job in Novi

Oxford School District Superintendent Virginia Brennen-Kyro is considering changing jobs, but said she has mixed feelings about the potential move.
Brennen-Kyro is looking to replace retiring Novi School District Superintendent Dr. Emmett Lippe.
As one of three finalists for the position, Brennen-Kyro said she is not looking beyond the next phase in the interview process.
‘I’m taking this one step at a time,? she said. ‘If it gets to that point (leaving Oxford), it will be quite difficult for me.?
‘We’ve accomplished a lot in the five years I’ve been in this district,? she noted. Since coming to Oxford in 2000, Brennen-Kyro has seen the district construct a new high school and middle school thanks to a voter-approved bond issue in 2001.
Brennan-Kyro is optimistic her possible move could be a positive challenge. ‘Novi is a district with over 6,000 students and still growing (and) a good Master Plan that is very similar to ours,? she said. ‘It’s a good opportunity.?
After her initial interview with the Novi school board, Brennen-Kyro said the second phase of the process was a day-long tour of Novi district facilities. During the second phase, Brennen-Kyro was interviewed by a group of parents, a panel of staff members and an administrative team. This interview was televised on Novi’s cable access Channel 10.
The third phase of the candidate selection process includes the Novi school board touring the Oxford school district’s facilities, something which, according to Brennen-Kyro, has not yet occurred.
Also being considered for the Novi superintendent’s position are Peter Dion, Superintendent of Grosse Ile, and Tom Hosler, Superintendent of the Huron school district.
The Novi school board is expected to make a final decision by the end of February.
