The Clarkston Community Historical Society is making plans for their third annual Cemetery Walk, from 7 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 21.
The event is designed as a unique way for participants to experience ‘living history? as they are guided through Lakeview Cemetery and come face to face with some of Clarkston’s earliest settlers.
This year, seven actors will be posted at various gravesites, playing a different character from Clarkston’s history. Historical characters include Eurastus Stiff, Peter Addis, Adeline Petty, Horatio Foster, Eleanor King Dunston and Lena Hammond Jossman, with a special surprise guest.
Each character will offer a short speech about the life and times of each historical individual, as well as interesting facts about Clarkston and the cemetery itself.
After the tour, participants may stop by the CCHS tent for light refreshments and a chance to listen to ‘Wakes and Weddings? as they sing American patriotic and folk songs.
Shuttle service will be provided to and from Depot Park. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students (children age four and under are free of charge). For ticket information, call the CCHS office at 248-922-0270.
