On May 11, members of the Sashabaw Plains Chapter NSDAR, located in Clarkston, made a trip to Freemont, Ind. to mark the grave of Dorcas Wolf at The Old Cemetery.
Ms. Wolf, who was a member of the Sashabaw Plains Chapter, passed away on Oct. 8, 2003. The chapter traveled to her resting place to add a DAR marker to her gravestone. According to members who participated, the rainy, windy day cleared long enough for members to hold a prayer service and add the DAR marker.
Following the ceremony, those in attendance gathered at The Herb Garden Restaurant in Freemont to share lunch and personal memories of the beloved friend.
Ms. Wolf was accepted into the DAR on Oct. 27, 1936 as a member of the now disbanded Ann Gridley Chapter of Hillsdale. She transferred in 1977 to the General Richardson Chapter where she served as Regent from 1985-1987.
In 1986, Ms. Wolf was admitted to the Fifty-Year club and was a life member and past president. The Shashabaw Plains Chapter was please to welcome her into membership when she transferred in Oct. of 1991. She was a member of the DAR for nearly 67 years. She devoted many hours to genealogical research.
Those in DAR will remember Ms. Wolf for her gentle kindness, sense of humor and dedication. She will be remembered as a dear friend and she will be missed.
