Parks and Rec thanks Rotary

On Aug. 15, members of the Clarkston Rotary gathered at the Renee Przybylski Memorial Spraypark to receive an award for their help making the park a reality.
Kelly Hyer, recreation programmer for Independence Township Parks and Recreation presented John Halleran and Joel DeLong, both past presidents of Clarkston Rotary with a commemorative plaque.
Halleran and DeLong made the Rotary water feature at the spray park their presidential projects.
Every year, the Clarkston Rotary president has the opportunity to choose a project to be named as his or her ‘presidential project.? John and Joel each dedicated money for the water feature in the spray park.
Previous presidential projects include flag poles around the community, scoreboards at baseball diamonds at Clintonville Parks, help in the construction of soccer fields, planning and the partial implementation of nature walkways, repair on a roof in Bay Court Park, senior citizen’s vans, and new Christmas decorations for new light poles in downtown Clarkston.
