The Oxford boys and girls cross country teams competed in the Brother Rice Invitational this past weekend.
The girls placed seventh out of 14 teams at the event. Oxford had two runners, junior Heather Nester (22:57/29th) and junior Abby Stewart (23:02/30th) place in the top 35 and receive medals.
Other placers were freshman runner Taylor Dewey (23:28/39th) and sophomores Ellen Darnell (24:42/59th), Morgan Stefanski (24:08/51st), Kathryn Burt (27:20/73rd), Jordan Murry (25:03/64th).
The boys placed 5th overall earning all seven competing runners a medal. Oxford’s top three runners also received a second medal for finishing the race in the top 35. Senior captain Adam Richmond led the way for the Wildcats finishing 8th overall with a time of 17:39. Not far behind was sophomore runner Ben Cole (18:26/25th) and senior captain Todd Davidson (18:32/31st). Sutherland was impressed with Cole’s finished and stated it was his best race of the year so far.
Rounding out the finishes was sophomore captain Adam Heskitt (19:07/44th), sophomore John Elin (18:57/43rd), junior Greg White (20:14/73rd), and senior runner Mike Szabo (20:01/69th).
