Does Clarkston bleed maize and blue or green and white?
That question and many others will be argued ad nauseam at the 11th annual Brose Electric and The Print Shop Wolverine/Spartan Tailgator on Sept. 30 from 11 a.m.-5:30 p.m. in an outdoor tent between 5911 and 5897 Dixie Highway.
This annual event has turned from a friendly rivalry between two local business owners into a clever fund-raiser for the Clarkston/Sashabaw Junior Optimist Clubs and the Clarkston Community Band.
For each Tailgator guest supporting their school, Don Brose, owner of Brose Electric and proud Michigan alum, and Gary Metzger, owner of The Print Shop and equally-proud Michigan State alum, will contribute $1. The final tally is split between the Optimists and the band.
But the Tailgator is not just a chance to jaw about what school will have bragging rights this year ? hot dogs, green and blue donuts, cider and tailgator gumbo will be on hand to make sure people have enough energy to argue all day long. Fight songs and games will also rev up the two sides prior to the big game.
Individuals wearing green and white to the Tailgator will receive half off all copies and a 10 percent discount at The Print Shop, but pay double on all light bulbs at Brose Electric.
Conversely revelers sporting maize and blue can purchase light bulbs at 20 percent off at Brose Electric, but pay double on all copies and endure a 10 percent up-charge on everything at The Print Shop on Sept. 30.
