Brandon kickers dedicate Fenton game to father of former player

Brandon’s varsity boys soccer team earned a key league victory while keeping the father of one of their former players in their thoughts.
On Sept. 28, the Blackhawks defeated Fenton 4-2 to keep within striking distance of undefeated league leader Linden. Brandon is currently 5-3-2 overall and 4-2-2 in Flint Metro League play.
Nick Loeffler scored two goals to lead Brandon to the victory, while Chris Barth and Ryan Morales also scored for the Blackhawks. For Morales, it was his 11th goal of the year.
Scott Thurman and Jerry Cronk split goaltending duties for the Blackhawks.
The Blackhawks dedicated the game to Paul Salvador, the father of Tony Salvador, a four-year player on the Brandon varsity boys soccer team who graduated two years ago. A moment of silence was held prior to the start of the game.
‘His family were big supporters of Brandon soccer,? Brandon coach Nathan Hunter said. ‘Our thoughts and prayers are with his family right now. He’s extremely ill.?
On Sept. 26, the Blackhawks tied Lapeer West at two, with Morales scoring both Brandon goals. Thurman and Cronk again split time in goal for Brandon.
The Blackhawks lost their second league game of the season Sept. 21 when they fell 2-1 to Holly. Cronk moved from his normal goaltending position to play center and midfield for the Blackhawks, and scored Brandon’s only goal of the game. Thurman played in goal for the Blackhawks in that game.
