A Lake Orion man was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Baldwin Road to get to Orion Oaks Park on Monday afternoon.
The accident occurred about 4:15 p.m., when John James McCuish, 18, of Lake Orion, was trying to cross Baldwin on foot from the parking lot of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, near Mill Creek Road.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Department said McCuish was trying to get to Orion Oaks when he stepped into the path of a 2005 Lexus, driven by a 26-year-old Novi resident and traveling south on Baldwin.
McCuish was transported to Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital by ambulance. He was listed in critical but stable condition.
The driver of the Lexus was not injured in the accident, which is still under investigation by the OCSD Crash Reconstruction Unit.
The OCSD said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
There are no crosswalks in the area where the accident occurred.
