Soup from a stone

Linda Gouldi’s class at the Lake Orion Early Childhood program at CERC recently enjoyed an untraditional Thanksgiving feast: Soup made from a stone.
The idea comes from the children’s book ‘Stone Soup,? which tells about hungry travelers who arrive at a village expecting to find a household willing to share a bit of food, but instead find doors slammed in their face.
The travelers think the village must be in greater need than they are, so they decide to share their special recipe for magical soup, using a stone as a starter.
Each villager in turn supplies an ingredient until a delicious soup has been created.
The 3-4-year-olds in Gouldi’s class created their soup with potatoes, carrots, celery, broth, noodles, and of course, a stone.
