Internet predator suspect arrested

On Nov. 17, Oakland County Sheriff’s Detectives arrested a suspected internet predator as he allegedly arrived for what he believed to be a meeting with a 13-year-old girl he met on-line.
Richard Joseph Marth, 34, allegedly communicated in a chat room with the ?13-year-old girl? who was actually a detective from OCS Computer Crimes Unit. The two arranged a meeting for 1 p.m. on Nov. 17, with Marth arriving at 12:35 p.m. in a 1995 black suburban dressed in a paramedic uniform.
According to a Nov. 23 press release, Marth stated he wanted to perform various sexual acts with the girl as well as possibly another child.
Discovered in the black suburban were several laptop computers, a video camera and other items used during sexual intercourse.
Marth was arraigned at 52-2 District Court in front of Magistrate Chiappelli on a three count warrant including: child sexually abusive activity (a 20-year felony), using a computer/internet to commit a crime (a 20-year felony) and obscenity which is a six month misdemeanor.
He was sent to Oakland County Jail on a $750,000 cash bond, and if released, cannot have any contact with minors or use a computer or the internet.
A preliminary exam is set for Dec. 2 at 8:30 a.m. before Judge Kelley Kostin.
Marth is a paramedic for North Flight EMS out of Traverse City according to the press release.
