Hoopsters score big win over Clawson

The Oxford Wildcats basketball team played like Wildcats in the first quarter of a 58-36 victory over Clawson on Friday.
The Cats jumped to a 21-6 advantage after the first eight minutes and easily outdistanced Clawson the rest of the way.
Coach Steve Laidlaw said his squad opened the game with a flurry.
‘I was very pleased with how well we played in the quarter,? he said.
Tim Ketelhut scored nine of his 11 points in the quarter, including a pair of three-pointers. The Wildcat defense led to several Clawson turnovers.
Oxford continued strong play in the second quarter and held a 35-19 lead at halftime.
Laidlaw said Oxford center Brad Dugan got into early foul trouble and couldn’t play as much as usual.
Even without the senior leader, the team played well.
When Zach Tilley hit a bucket at the end of the third quarter, Oxford held a 12-point advantage with only eight minutes left.
Seniors Billy Keenist and Brad Dugan took over and controlled the final quarter for the Cats.
Keenist scored eight consecutive points in the quarter and finished with a game-high 14 points. Allan Willar added nine points and Brad Dugan grabbed a game-high seven rebounds.
The Wildcats had 18 steals in the game.
Oxford travels to Lake Orion on Friday for a 7 p.m. game.
