Senior Steve Smiley and junior Tommy Ellsworth’s performances at the Oakland County Tournament, Dec. 16-17 earned them Athlete of the Week honors.
Smiley and Ellsworth both won their second Oakland County Tournament individual titles, placing them in rarified air along with some of Clarkston’s wrestling elite.
Ellsworth added a title at 160 pounds to go with his 152 pound title from the 2004 tournament. Smiley has won the 189 pound weight class two years running.
Other multi-year champions from Clarkston include: Corey Grant (?91,?92, ?94), A.J. Grant (?96, ?97, ?98), Pat DeGain (?97, ?98, ?99), Braden L’Amoreaux (?02, ?03, and ?04), Jerry Anderson (?90, ?91), current Clarkston Coach Joe DeGain (?94, ?95), Ryan L’Amoreaux (?97, ?98), John Robinson (?98, ?99), Clint DeGain (01,02), Joe Wood (?01, ?02) and Sean Turner (?02, ?03).
Some familiar faces, including Braden L’Amoreaux and Clint DeGain, graced the sidelines of this year’s OCT.
