Goodrich’s varsity hockey team let a 2-0 lead slip away and came up on the losing end of a 4-2 contest against Auburn Hills Avondale Dec. 14 at Ice Mountain Sports Arena in Burton.
The Martians claimed a 1-0 lead in the first period when Tom Ferreri scored on an assist from Max Hawkins, then added another goal with about five minutes left in the second as Steve Tangney scored on assists from Hawkins and Ferreri.
However, the Yellow Jackets took advantage of Goodrich penalties to take control of the game, scoring two goals later in the second period and then two more in the third period to take command of the game. Of those four goals, two were scored on an Avondale power play.
