Air National Guard Staff Sgt. Lyle B. Black participated in the ninth annual Air Force Marathon run at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio, the home of the Air Force Museum.
All levels of runners and wheelchair participants, both military and civilian, from around the world competed in either the 26.2-mile run or as part of a four-person relay team, a ? marathon or 5K run.
The marathon passed through historical places on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, including the National Museum of the Air Force (start and finish line), the Air Force Institute of Technology, Headquarters Air Force Material Command, the base’s flightline and the Wright Brothers Memorial Monument.
Participants were allowed eight hours to complete the marathon.
Black, a fire protection supervisor with eight years of military service, is assigned to the 127th Civil Engineer Squadron, Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Mount Clemens, Mich.
He is the son of Lyle Black of Foster Road, Clarkston, Mich., and Tami Black of Petrolia, West Bloomfield.
His wife, Jill, is the daughter of Gerald Nagy, and Debbie Nagy, both of Lapeer, Mich.
The sergeant is a 1997 graduate of Clarkston High School.
