Close losses continue to plague Oxford icers

Sometimes the toughest losses are the close ones.
The Oxford hockey team has had some very close ones.
The latest loss, 3-2, to Linden, dropped the Wildcats to the middle of the Flint Metro League standings as 3-6.
The six losses have been by a total of seven goals. And the one two-goal loss featured an empty net goal by Fenton late in the game, which was a game that also could have gone either way.
‘We could easily be 9-0,? said Coach Dave Hague. ‘It’s been difficult but they are working hard. The program is building and the kids need to learn how to win. We’ve played well but it’s been difficult. We’ll keep playing hard.?
In the Linden loss, Steven Smith and Mike Jacovettis each had a goal and an assist while Alex Hoffman and Brian Simpson each collected assists.
Hoffman is running away with the Flint Metro League scoring race with 37 points in only 16 games. He’s scored 25 goals and collected 12 assists.
