Music, romance and comedy meet when the Clarkston High School Drama Club presents ‘The Boy Friend,? a story about love, money and secrets. Written by Sandy Wilson, ‘The Boy Friend? takes place along the French Rivera during the Roaring 20’s.
Polly Brown (played by Kristen Mercado) is a student at Mme. DuBonnet’s French Finishing School. While away at school, she meets and falls in love with a delivery boy named Tony (played by Nick Johnson).
Brown’s feelings for Tony are strong, but her father warned her about people seeking her affection to get to her fortune, so she pretends to be a secretary at the boarding school.
Brown decides to hide her romance from friends and family, and as her relationship with Tony progresses, she discovers he is also hiding a big secret. Can their love survive the truth?
All the romance and humor are interspersed with musical numbers, including the songs ‘Won’t you Charleston with Me?? ‘The Riviera? and ‘Never too late to fall in Love.?
Performances are scheduled for Feb 23-25 at 7:30 p.m. in the performing Arts Center at CHS.
Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students and senior citizens. Tickets can be purchased during all lunch hours (10:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m.) and can be reserved by calling the box office at 248-623-4024. Any unsold tickets go on sale at 6 p.m. the evening of the performance at the box office
