Church team heading to Honduras

A 14-person mission team from Oxford Free Methodist Church will spend the first week of April in Honduras as part of a construction crew at Rancho Ebenezer which is operated through World Gospel Outreach.
WGO serves the at-risk, abandoned children of Tegucigalpa, Honduras in their mountain top community. Tegucigalpa is the capital of Honduras.
At-risk children are raised in Christian family homes, go to school and learn about Christ in a safe environment. They are educated to become the future leaders of their country.
Since the development of Rancho Ebenezer, WGO has been using volunteer construction teams to help build the facilities located about one hour outside the city of Tegucigalpa.
There, volunteers work with WGO staff and Hondurans who are employed from the local community. The construction site is large and varied.
Volunteers are used for everything from digging footings and building walls to painting the finished buildings.
Rancho Ebenezer currently has completed five houses, one house with an additional apartment, one school, one teacher’s house, one duplex, one large mission house, and two large pole barns.
Projects currently under construction are a second duplex and a new house. At this time all power is provided with diesel or natural gas generators.
However, electric service has been run for the last four to five kilometers by WGO and volunteers from Tech Serv Ministries from Montoursville, Pennsylvania.
They are now waiting for the approval of the local power company.
Oxford Free Methodist has sent financial support to missionaries Terry and Carol Mallasch who sold their home in Chicago two years ago and moved their family to Honduras to serve with WGO.
‘We are very excited about this trip,? said Bob Von Bargen, chairman and organizer of Oxford Free Methodist’s trip. ‘Each team member is paying $1,400 to be able to serve on the construction crew, however, we have had three fund-raisers at the church to offset the expenses. We are very thankful for the church members? generosity and support.?
‘We will now be able to physically help those who are helping others to obtain a substantial life through Christ who has told us to help those in need ? physically, mentally and spiritually.?
