The Clarkston Area Optimist Club is holding its annual Oratorical Contest for area students on March 16 at 7 p.m. in the Clarkston High School LGI Room.
This year’s subject is ‘My future is bright because?? Students are asked to present a 4-5 minute speech on the topic for competition.
All interested students must be 16 years of age as of December 31, 2005. There is no minimum age requirement.
To enter, please pick up an entry form and rules sheet at the Clarkston Schools Administration offices. Forms are also available at the School Board Office form Becky Kelly. The deadline for entry is March 10. All forms must be returned to either the School Board Office or the student’s school office.
Prizes are awarded to the top boy and girls finalists. The top boy and girl then move on to compete in the Optimist Regional contest in Clinton Twp. on April 1.
The one girl and one boy finalist at the Regional Contest will then continue on to compete for a $1,500 college scholarship on May 20 at the State Contest in Holland.
