Orion Township Parks and Recreation is preparing to open another athletic field at Friendship Park in 2007, as a crew from the Weekend Alternatives for Misdemeanors (WAM) helped remove rocks from donated fill dirt on April 8.
Parks and Recreation Director Rock Blanchard said the dirt was donated by building companies and developers. The site will eventually be a field for soccer, football and lacrosse, and is located in the northwest portion of the park, at Clarkston and Baldwin Roads.
‘This project has been going on for a couple of years,? Blanchard said.
The field should be ready for use by fall of 2007.
