Arrested driver nearly six times over legal limit

A 44-year-old Pontiac man was arrested for operating his motor vehicle while intoxicated after nearly crashing into an Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputy patrol car and blowing a .45 blood alcohol level during a preliminary breath test.
The man was driving a 1994 Chevy Lumina north on Dixie Highway in the southbound lane at approximately 1:47 a.m. when an OCSD deputy saw the man and had to swerve in order to avoid a crash.
Two pints of alcohol were found on the passenger seat during the traffic stop. The man told police he was drunk, they did not have to give him any sobriety tests and they should take him to jail. He also stated he was on his way home to Pontiac after leaving initially after becoming mad at his wife.
The man was transported to North Oakland Medical Center for medical clearance and a blood draw. He was transported to Oakland County Jail at around 3 a.m. when he was medically cleared with a blood alcohol level under .30.
Police arrested the man for operating his motor vehicle while intoxicated, having open intoxicants in the vehicle and improper lane use.
