Doubles teams playing well for Clarkston

Clarkston’s No. 4 doubles team of Blake Curdy and Trent Rose have been on a tear this season and have left their opponents thinking , ‘It’s gotta be the shoes.?
Curdy and Rose wear matching baby blue shoes ‘and have been very successful in them. The duo defeated Troy Athens? Asheesh Batra and Vikash Dilley 6-0, 5-7, 6-4 to help the Wolves tie Athens 4-4 on May 4.
‘Their good friends and are always trying to have some type of gimmick like the shoes,? Clarkston Coach Chas Claus said. ‘They have played together a long time and are attuned to each other.?
No. 2 singles player Erik Maesch also performed well against Athens. He played nearly a flawless match to defeat Mike Parker 6-1, 6-1.
‘He dismantled their kid,? Claus said. ‘He played a very patient and precise match. He didn’t make any mistakes.?
The Wolves? Zach Kerr defeated Caesar Bucalos 6-2, 7-4 to take the No. 3 singles flight and the No. 3 doubles team of Thomas Beattie and Derek Boatman won their match 6-1, 7-5 to remain undefeated in dual meets this season.
The match against the Red Hawks was the Wolves only match last week. Clarkston’s final week of the regular season is much busier. The Wolves have a rescheduled match with Berkley on May 10, the OAA II league meet at Rochester Adams on May 11 and the Holly Invite on May 13.
Claus said he feels good about where the team is at right now and hopes they can go out and get some wins at the league tournament.
‘We want to avenge some individual flight losses we had in the regular season at the league meet,? Claus said. ‘I feel we can win a league title in any flight if they play their best tennis. We have a very deep team so my doubles teams should do well.?
