The Brandon varsity boys tennis team finished third this year in the Flint Metro League standings.
This year, Brandon hosted the Flint Metro League tournament, which took place at the Brandon Varsity Sports Complex, along with Bloomfield Tennis Club and Lifetime Fitness in Rochester.
Holly won the tournament, but Brandon had some outstanding finishes as well, namely three flights of doubles which finished in the finals.
Highlighting that list was the #2 doubles team of Troy Nuccio and Scott Thurman, who defeated Tony Gazetti and Travis McArthur 6-3, 6-7 (7-2), 7-6 (7-4). Nuccio and Thurman won first team All-League honors as a result.
In addition, the #1 doubles team of Garrett Warrilow and Andy Collier lost to Holly’s Nathan Kast and Anthony Anetrini 6-4, 6-4 in the finals of that bracket, and the #4 team of Aaron VanDis and Brad Kerin lost to Holly’s Mark Kahn and Mike Michayluk 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 in the finals of that bracket.
Warrilow and Collier, along with VanDis and Kerin, earned second team All-League honors.
