Maybee Road to remain closed

Maybee Road, east of Clintonville Road on the Independence and Orion township border, will remain closed until Aug. 18.
The detour route advised by the Road Commission for Oakland County is Baldwin Road to Waldon Road to Clintonville Road, and the opposite.
The road was originally scheduled to re-open Aug. 14, but work was delayed, RCOC Public Information Officer Craig Bryson said.
The Clintonville/Maybee intersection improvement project has been ongoing since June 19, and is expected to be complete by Sept. 1.
The project involves adding a left turn lane and stoplights and widening the road for the additions. A right turn lane will also be added to southbound Clintonville Road, for traffic headed west on Maybee Road.
The traffic also includes resurfacing a small portion of Maybee Road, east of Clintonville Road.
The project costs $1 million and is paid for by RCOC. Independence Township will picg up the cost of sidewalk installation and paving.
Clintonville Road sees roughly 20,000 vehicles per day and Maybee Road carries almost 13,000 autos daily according to the RCOC.
