Tall and impressive prairie dock, striking blue lobelia and brilliant butterflies are awaiting adults and children at the Suzanne G. Knorr Preserve in Clarkston on Aug. 19 at 10 a.m.
Naturalist and master gardener Trish Hennig and geologist Emily Duthinh will guide participants on the one-hour walk of maturing recreated prairie located at the Parks at Stonewood. August is the perfect time to view the array of native flowers and grasses found at Knorr.
Open to the public, the walk is one of a series of family-friendly guided nature walks provided by the North Oakland Headwaters Land Conservancy. The Suzanne G. Knorr Preserve is a perpetual Conservation Easement established in 1998. The easement, donated to NOHLC by the developer, Victor International, insures that the property will be forever maintained in its current natural, scenic, historic, forested state providing relief from urban closeness nearby.
