Springfield break-ins linked by snack chips

Police found a bag of Doritos at the scene of a break-in at Frosty Boy on Dixie Highway that could be the missing bag of chips from another burglary in the early morning hours of Aug. 26.
The owner of Jan’s Finishing Touch Salon, also on Dixie Highway, reported their break-in less than one hour before the ice cream shop robbery was reported to police.
At Jan’s, the owner found a screen window cut open. The suspect swiped candy and food, including the Doritos.
The interior of the store was found intact with the exception of the kitchen area, where the burglar allegedly made themselves a bowl of soup and spilled some on the floor. The owner reported $30 missing from a candy box.
At the Frosty Boy, the suspect allgedly smashed through the drive-thru window and nearly $400 was stolen from the cash registers.
One of the registers recorded the time it was open at 5:51 a.m. A bag of Doritos was found on a ledge inside the ice cream shop.
