A Sunday evening bonfire on Hi Hill Drive resulted in a mother and her 6-year-old son going to the hospital.
According to an Oakland County Sheriff’s Department report, the boy removed a hot poker from the fire and went into the garage.
Shortly thereafter, the boy’s parents noticed smoke coming from the attached garage.
The father, 38, gained entry by breaking the back window, while the mother went through the front of the garage.
The pair was able to safely remove their son.
Orion Fire responded and extinguished the fire (a fire investigator was not requested).
The boy and his mother were transported to Crittenton Hospital, where they were treated for smoke inhalation.
