UM track to PE teacher

Jennifer Williams is ready to help teach the relevance of being physically active to Brandon High School physical education students.
A University of Michigan graduate, Williams, 23, was hired by the district to be a part-time Physical Education Teacher. Williams will be taking over Tony Trupiano’s afternoon classes, while he takes on the position of Brandon Middle School’s athletic director.
Williams, an Atherton High School graduate, was active in a variety of sports, including basketball, volleyball, track, and cross-country.
‘I loved volleyball,? said Williams. ‘But I did much better in track.?
Williams went on to attend the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education and Mathematics.
‘I had a few offers for college,? said Williams. ‘Uof M best fit me as far as athletics and academics.?
A member of the Michigan’s Big Ten’s track team for five years, Williams was a high jump athlete as well as competing in multi-events, including, the pentathlon and the heptathlon.
In addition to sports, Williams loves to read women’s novels, and enjoys traveling, and scrapbooking.
Williams and her husband of two years, Brian, just recently moved to Clarkston. Brian teaches in the Clarkston School District and he is a Brandon volleyball coach.
In 2004 and 2006 Williams placed second in the high jump at the Big Ten indoors; 2003 placed third in the high jump at Big Ten indoor and outdoor. She was team captain 2006; All-American in high jump and pentathlon in 2006; and a memberof champion indoor teams in ?02, ?03, ?05, and ?06 and champion outdoor teams in ?02, ?03, and ?04.
