Band performs holiday program Dec. 1

The North Oakland Concert Band, conducted by Annette Kline, will perform its annual holiday season concert on Friday, December 1 at 7:30 pm at Christ the Redeemer Church in Lake Orion.
The musical program will go beyond traditional carols and songs and will include the dramatic and inspiring ‘Russian Christmas Music? by Alfred Reed, James Curnow’s ‘Finale for a Winter Festival,? and an exhilarating ‘Toboggan Ride? by Stan Applebaum.
Other pieces include ‘Wassail,? an arrangement of a Vaughan Williams composition, and ‘Midnight Sleighride,? an adaptation of a piece of Prokofiev’s ‘Lietenant Kije Suite.?
To conclude the concert, the band will be joined by the church choir, directed by Mari Reyes, and the audience for a Christmas sing-along and Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus. Other musical treats that can be expected for this evening include prelude music by a woodwind trio and afterglow music provided by a saxophone quartet. The afterglow will be hosted by NOCB members and all attending this event are invited.
