Brandon’s varsity boys basketball team continues to search for its first win of the season in the early going.
The Blackhawks fell behind early in their Dec. 12 game against visiting Grand Blanc and could not recover, losing to the Bobcats 70-43. The loss dropped the Blackhawks to 0-3 on the season.
Grand Blanc took a 34-19 lead at halftime, and never looked back. Alex White led the Blackhawks with 14 points, while Adrian Hunter added 12 points.
Sophomore Dustin Deshais led the Blackhawks in scoring with 14 points, while senior Adrain Harges added eight and sophomore Quin McNally seven. McNally connected on two three-pointers in the contest.
Despite 22 points from Harges, the Blackhawks lost their second game in as many tries, falling to visiting Port Huron Northern 58-52.
Northern led 10-9 at the end of the first quarter and 23-21 at halftime, and despite Brandon’s best attempts to get back in the game, the Blackhawks could not overtake the Huskies.
Harges also contributed eight rebounds and five assists for the Blackhawks, while Deshais added 11 points.
Both teams were proficient from three-point range, with Northern connecting on seven shots from behind the arc, and Brandon converting six. Deshais, McNally and Harges each connected on two three-pointers.
Brandon has one more chance to get a win before Christmas break, as the Blackhawks were scheduled to travel to Holly for a Friday, Dec. 15 contest. That game is the Blackhawks? first Flint Metro League game of the season.
After they return from the break, the Blackhawks? next scheduled game is at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, when the Blackhawks host Saginaw Heritage High School. The Blackhawks are then scheduled to travel to Linden Tuesday, Jan. 9 for another league game.
