More coverage, recognition needed for parade

Dear Editor:
I would like to express my huge disappointment in your coverage of the Clarkston Parade.
After countless hours of building, preparing, and financing, our members and Clarkston residents only got see a small token of pictures located at the end of your paper.
It is apparent to me, The Clarkston News and the Chamber of Commerce are not in unison with the hard efforts the community organizations put on for its residents. After three straight years of being in the Clarkson Holiday Parade, I have personally witnessed a degradation in the amount of participation by organizations and residents alike.
To my bewilderment, our adjoining cities do not offer the same amenities the Clarkston Chamber of Commerce has for its participants, and yet, participation is dwindling. In part, one reason has been your paper’s coverage of this event and others alike.
Granted there are costs associated to printing large sums of photos. Consequently, we understand that not everyone can be in the paper, but no mention of the six winners or any write up of any kind is uncalled for.
After all, your staff covered this event and inquired information from all participants. Were we so naive to think there would be some recognition in our local paper?
I am asking a favor of your staff, to place in next week’s paper the accurate depiction of last weekend’s parade. It would serve the community justice to witness great displays that traveled through downtown Clarkston.
Not to mention, giving credit to the Clarkson Chamber of Commerce for contributing capital and hard personal efforts that make parades a fun, fruitful event for us all.
